Health related problems are one of the major issues faced by a person in his life. If it is minor it can be tolerated but, if it is major it can give a serious damage not only to the body and mind but also to the financial condition of the family. And is one of the major deaseas, which kills more than 1300 Indians every day according to the reports given by Indian council of medical research (ICMR). And we can notice that general health insurance formed not cover the entire treatment. Due to this most of the indians of lower and middle class family end up with spending all of their savings and collateral.
By the survey it is recorded that less than 20% of Indian are covered under health insurance. And over 80% of India’s are still unaware that they can get benefit form government health insurance. And government health insurance give fund by considering their annual family income. 1.Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund which works under Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi. This fund is provided for the patient living bellow the poverty line, which also consist of the cancer hospital almost in every state of India. 2.The Health Minister’s Discretionary Grants which works under The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the HMDG offers up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 to poor patients in cases where free medical facilities are not available at government hospitals. Only those having an annual family income up to Rs.1.25,000 and below are eligible for financial assistance of up to 70% of the total bill. 3. The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) which is applicable for retired Central Government employees & dependents approv the cancer treatment at any hospital. 4. National Health Protection Scheme it is an Ayushman Bharat initiative, the National Health Protection Scheme provides coverage up to 5 lakh rupees per family per year. 5. The Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund initially started for victims of natural disasters also provides partial coverage for heart surgeries, kidney transplantation, cancer treatment, and more such treatments. 6. State Illness Assistance Fund it provides fund that offers coverage up to Rs. 1 Lakh for cancer treatment at government hospitals within the state.
