New Corona symptoms added by a top US health body
A top health organisation of the United States called the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) have recently added three new symptoms to the existing list of Coronavirus disease symptoms.
Since the beginning of the Coronavirus disease in China, several medical specialists, researchers and health experts began to gather more information about this virus. They researched for significant effective medical treatments and prevention measures. Also, at the very beginning, the coronavirus disease was thought to be just a normal respiratory sickness, but as the experts dug deeper, it was discovered that this virus can affect nearly all essential organs of our body.
Now along with an existing list of the coronavirus symptoms, there are three more symptoms that are newly added by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, US). These symptoms include congestion or runny nose, nausea, and diarrhoea.
Some symptoms that were already in this coronavirus list were -
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty to breath
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Loss of smell or taste
- Sore throat
However, these are not all the possible symptoms of the COVID-19. But as the researchers and medical experts continue to look for more details, they’ll surely
keep us updated.
According to a report on a news website, these changes were made on May 13, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had already made some changes to the list by adding six new symptoms of Coronavirus symptoms in the month of April.
When the world first found out about the Coronavirus disease, just three symptoms came into picture which included fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
After the detailed research, the experts reported that the Coronavirus symptoms range from mild to severe. They said, patients with mild levels of symptoms need to be hospitalized but they can recover within 14 days. On the other hand, patients with severe coronavirus symptoms need hospitalization with assisted oxygen and sometimes ventilators too.
It is very unfortunate that more than 10 million have already got infected all over the world and around 500,000 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also warned people and said, “Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for manifesting more serious complications from COVID-19 illness”. They also added that these “emergency warning signs” for Coronavirus usually have symptoms like difficulty in breathing, pressure in the chest, inability to stay awake, confusion, and bluish face or lips.
“If anyone around you or people you know show any of these signs and symptoms, seek emergency medical care instantly”, said the CDC.
